Summer time is fast approaching and you find yourself permitting your child to go to summer camp. You have decided that it will be an educational and cultural experience for him. But it’s his first camping trip without you. So naturally, you will feel a little bit apprehensive even if you know that the activity will be adult-supervised.
Can your child survive the outdoors without you? Is this the right time and the right age to permit him to go, or can you postpone it for another year? What if something happens, can your child take care of himself? Is your child responsible and knowledgeable enough for this type of activity? Can you trust the people who are supervising your child? Have you chosen the right summer camp, is it licensed? All these questions are mind numbing, and we do not rest until every questions are answered to our liking.

Yes, there is a correct way to load your backpack. Some people try to be more organized than others, but it is important to make every inch count.
Besides having a proper fit, the other key to a comfortable trip is the correct loading of your pack. Everyone has their own system of loading their pack, there are a few universal guidelines about weight and gravity.
A very well designed Camping Backpack will keep the load close to your center of gravity, making it easier for you to move, change directions, and do what you need to do. A properly loaded backpack is considerable more comfortable than an improperly packed one.
First, start by loosening all the packs compression straps, and all internal dividers. Then put your sleeping bag in the bottom. Some hikers prefer to put their sleeping bag into a stuff sack. We do suggest using a compression stuff sack to compress the sleeping bag to its smallest size possible.

Finally! After record snowfall and cold temperatures this winter, it’s about time we warmed up to the prospect of some decent weather. Looks like the darkest days are finally behind us and thankfully, spring has once again come to the UK.
The blossoms are out. Clocks have returned back (to ahead), where they should have been all along.
Surely, planning your summer holiday cannot be too far behind.
If you are anything like most people, you’ll feel slightly guilty from time to time that you have visited many exotic tourist destinations all over the world but you have sadly neglected to explore the delights of your own back yard. This summer, why not give your skin a much-needed break from its annual sun beating? (Your unsightly tan lines have only just faded from last year, after all). Why not avoid the miserable airline staff telling you your weight allowance only permits you to carry one pair of espadrilles and a bottle of Bacardi? Why not do your bit for the environment and decrease your carbon footprint? This year, shake off those recession blues and stay right here in the UK; explore those places you’ve been meaning to visit for years but haven’t quite got round to it…and have yourself a very merry “staycation.”

Like you, I love camping and there is nothing better than sleeping outside on a cool spring night. I started camping a few years ago and decided to make the investment and buy a tent, sleeping bag and all of the other amenities. When I started looking for a sleeping bag I was overwhelmed with the style and selection that were available. After some research I bought my first sleeping bag and I have been happy ever since. To save you some time, I have written down some tips that helped me make my first sleeping bag purchase.
To start, you have to decide on the temperature rating you want for your sleeping bag. Think about the approximate temperature when you will be camping or hiking. Generally, sleeping bags are rated as: 3-Season (+10 degrees to +32 degrees), winter (-10 and below), summer (+32 and higher) and cold weather (+10 to -10). And remember, it makes sense to choose a bag that is rated a little bit lower than you will need. A lower rated sleeping bag will keep you warm if the temperature really drops down on a cold night. Plus, you can always unzip the bag if you need to cool off.

In Tanzania, Ngorongoro Crater is said to have the world’s densest population of lion. In Lake Manyara lions have developed a liking for residing in the branches of trees, where they can both sleep and watch for prey whilst the Serengeti is notable for its large migratory herds of wildebeest and zebras with strings of predators in trail. To begin, I was never into the concept of camping. The idea of sleeping in a tent on the cold ground didn’t appeal to me. However, some of my friends would go camping every year and swear they loved it. So last year I decided to take the plunge and I went camping with some of my friends. I have to admit, I was hooked after the first night. I think the key was using the correct equipment. After my first camping trip, I decided to make the investment and buy a tent, sleeping bag and all of the other amenities. To save you some time, I have written down some tips that helped me buy my first camping tent.
The first step begins with determining the size tent you will need. When you start shopping for your tent you will see that tents are categorized by their capacity. For example, you will see two-person, three-person or four-person tents. One footnote is that you will want to buy a tent that is a little bit larger than your need. For example, if you are only looking for a two-person tent, you might want to consider a three-person or four-person tent. A two person tent will fit a maximum of two people and not much else. If you get a three-person or four-person tent you will have room for some of your gear as well. Now you might say why don’t I get a six person tent and have plenty of room? The only problem here is the extra weight that comes with a larger tent. Remember, you have to pack up and carry your tent. If you are like me, I wanted to pack as light as possible so I chose a tent that was just slightly bigger than my need.
