With the threat of global warming and other environmental concerns in the forefront of the American mindset, many travelers have begun to turn to hybrid vehicles as their choice for rented transportation during business and personal trips. And airport hybrid rental companies are happy to fill the needs. While the fuel-efficient hybrid cars are popular, they are also still expensive to own. On the other hand, hybrid car rentals have been growing in popularity over the last few years, causing many rental companies to constantly try to add more hybrid cars to their fleets to fill demand, especially at airport locations.
For those interested in renting a hybrid car air airport destinations during a business trip or trying one out before spending thousands to buy one, here is a list of the ten hybrid car rental companies, in no particular order.
1. Enterprise – One of the foremost leaders in the green movement, Enterprise has outfitted their nationwide locations with over seven thousand hybrid cars. Their new hybrid cars are priced only slightly above their other vehicles, and they have a large selection. Enterprise’s website makes it easy for travelers to find hybrid cars for rent at airports.
2. Hertz – One of the most recognizable car rental companies in the nation, Hertz joined the hybrid movement late but has quickly grown to own over four-thousand of the vehicles. Conveniently located at most large airports, Hertz is an excellent option for travelers.

Excess waiver insurance can be one of those annoying extras that you hadn’t taken into account when planning your trip involving the use of a hire car. It is annoying because the whole question of an insurance excess is often overlooked – since it is hardly well advertised by the car rental company – when making a reservation for car rental.
The excess generally enters into the car rental agreement thanks to a part of the essential insurance package known as the collision damage waiver. A collision damage waiver (or loss damage waiver as it is also sometimes called) is important in protecting the hirer’s financial responsibility for any loss or damage to the hired vehicle whilst it is in his or her possession. A hire car is an expensive piece of machinery, of course, anyone who rents it will want to avoid bearing the cost of its replacement value or expensive repairs by signing up for the collision damage waiver.

When most people see that the cost of a collision damage waiver is included in the rate quoted for their hire car they are likely to breathe a sigh of relief and relax in the knowledge that that is the insurance taken care of. They can be brought up with an unpleasant shock, therefore, when they discover – often at the very point of taking delivery of the hire car – that they will be financially responsible for the “excess” on any loss or damage. As often as not, therefore, this is followed by a last-minute decision to purchase a damage excess waiver.
Like many last-minute decisions, of course, the purchase of damage excess waiver at this late stage in the process will probably end up with the customer paying rather more for the insurance than might otherwise have been the case. Indeed, prices quoted by independent, specialist hire car insurance providers suggest that these can be up to a quarter of the price of comparable damage excess waiver agreements purchased directly from the car rental companies.
