Walsall, West Midlands, is a large manufacturing and industrial town located in west midlands and is part of the area known as Black Country. The town has a significant population of over a hundred and seventy thousand people and was traditionally home to a thriving lock making industry. Walsall was a small market town with weekly markets held up until the time of the industrial revolution when it was transformed into a manufacturing hub for a variety of products including chains, buckles, locks etc. Limestone quarrying also became a chief source of income for the town.
Although Walsall grew by leaps and bounds and came to be called the town of a hundred trades, its growth when compared to that of the nearby city of Birmingham is not so fantastic. This is attributed to the late introduction of railways to the town. Walsall is now well connected by a bus station and busy railway station to the rest of the country.

Small town life in Woodstock, Oxfordshire is filled with scenic beauty and a historical and cultural significance. It is home to Blenheim Palace, the birthplace and ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill. Because of the historical importance of the structure, it’s been designated by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site. This town of only 3,000 people is conveniently located about 73 miles west-northwest of London proper.
The town is filled with history. Edward, Prince of Wales, also known later in life as The Black Prince, was born in Woodstock in June of 1330. It was also here where Elizabeth I, probably one of the most historically significant female monarchs in English history, was kept as a prisoner for a time. As a young princess, she was confined to the gatehouse of the Woodstock Manor. The main building itself was considered too run-down a place to keep her.

Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales and has applied for city status. In the twelfth century this area was the location of a motte – an early form of castle. Then later, when Denbighsire was created as a county in North Wales, Wrexham was added to this county’s town list.
Wrexham started off as a small industrial town and market town. It was primarily involved with the leather industry. Several small cottage industries built up around local tanners and skinners. Later the industrial revolution arrived in North Wales in the eighteenth century and an ironworks and smelting plant was opened in the area bringing much needed work and an influx of workers.
Visitors to Wrexham can explore its historic town centre full of buildings in traditional tudor style. There are also many major on-going and planned refurbishments to the area. There has been a much-needed regeneration planned for the town centre itself which will bring a new vibrancy to the centre of town.

The long-standing market town of Wymondham (which is actually pronounced Windham) is one of the largest parishes in Norfolk, comprising 4431 hectares or 11,000 acres. King John issued the first market charter in 1204, but markets had probably been held here long before it was declared officially a market town. The market place is the setting for many events, including weekly farmers markets and many summer activities.
Over the centuries, industry has been as much a part of the town as markets. It has been a renowned woodturning centre, which became a brush making industry and eventually Wymondham was a part of the Norfolk woollen industry, using handlooms for weaving woollen cloth. The woollen industry faltered mid-nineteenth century which led to extensive poverty in the town and surrounding areas.
