Halesworth, Suffolk – Come One, Come All!
Town information- The mini market town of Halesworth – Suffolk with its estimated population of 4637 inhabitants is located 24 kilometres south-west of Lowestoft and 14 kilometres upstream from Southwold, in the Waveney district of east England in Sovereign State of United Kingdom. Excavations have shown prior to the 14th century that much of the region was flood plain.
Shopaholics- Shopaholics will love a trip to pedestrianised Thoroughfare, with its exquisite selection of shops selling anything imaginable from local delicacies and foods to home-made gifts. The majority of shops are specialised and independently owned. An annual fare is also hosted by Thoroughfare shop owners to raise money for different charities and causes. Thoroughfare also leads to the towns’ market place hosting Market Day’s every Wednesday. While on the subject of markets- a fresh, home produce Country Market day is also held every Friday morning at St. Mary’s Church Hall.
Museums- The Halesworth Museum located at Halesworth railway station is home to a fantastic collection of town memorabilia and even a workshop with a sewing machine, bales cotton and material, needles, buttons and zips donated to the museum in memory of town local Fred Knight.
