When it comes to convenience, do Disney home rentals really compare favourably to the more traditional option of staying in a hotel? Many people have used hotel accommodation for many years, and claim that as far as convenience is concerned, having someone serve up your food and make the beds each day is preferable to self-catering in a private home. However, most people who make these claims are unlikely to have investigated the idea of renting a private home near Disney World for their vacation, because in terms of convenience, there’s really no argument.
Let’s be clear – hotels offer a great service if you’re by yourself or just with a partner, but when you throw children into the equation, the whole thing becomes a different ball game. The overwhelming majority of people who visit Disney World in Orlando, travel with their children, and for this reason taking time to consider the benefits of renting one of the many private Disney home rentals available within 15 minutes of the theme park could make a great deal of difference.

I live in a beautiful village in South Africa called Pennington. It’s on the Natal South Coast and is a real “sleepy hollow”. I’m only 300 metres from a quiet beach – but mostly too lazy to walk down there! I sit on my verandah instead and look out over an acre of land to the Indian Ocean. The views are stunning and it’s really a great lifestyle. We have a few shops in the village but the nearest small town with big shops, banks etc is only about 15 minutes drive away.
Remarkably we have two great golf courses in Pennington. Best known one is Selborne, which is a magnificent residential golf estate with a hotel and a superb course. Not an easy one as there is water on fifteen of the eighteen holes! My favourite is Umdoni Park. This is a public course and part of the Umdoni Trust, which means that the course – and the surrounding nature reserve – belongs to the nation. There is a friendly Club and the course itself is a real “hidden” gem, very hilly but with spectacular views from most holes.
